PROJECT CASE STUDY · HEALTHCARE

Planning a calming healthcare mural

Healthcare murals need to be welcoming without making the environment feel overstimulating. The design process considers who will see the mural, how long they may spend in the room and what practical requirements apply to the surface.

The brief

A waiting room, corridor or treatment area may need a calmer arrival experience, clearer wayfinding or a visual connection to nature. The best direction is developed with the room’s lighting, sightlines and existing colour palette in mind.

Design and accessibility

We consider contrast, legibility, scale and the height at which the important parts of the image are viewed. Artwork should support the space without creating confusing patterns or blocking signs, doors and safety information.

Installation planning

Access, cleaning requirements, wall condition and the facility’s operating schedule should be discussed early. The installation plan can then account for protection, preparation and a tidy handover.
